Descendants of John Winnett (born c. 1775)

In 1798 a John Winnett married Anna Edson in Bridgewater, Massachusetts. This is no doubt the same John who two years later married Susanna Brown in Bridgewater. They had two known sons, Jason and Alfred, who both had large families, ancestors of some Winnett families in Massachusetts and Florida.

DNA testing in 2009 has confirmed a very close relationship between this family and that of William Winnett of Kildare (See Irish families). The exact nature of the relationship is not known but as it is so close, the common ancestor is likely to be Henry Winnett of Baltinglass, or his father John.
